Decidable discriminator varieties from unary classes
Let /C be a class of (universal) algebras of fixed type. /C* denotes the class obtained by augmenting each member of K, by the ternary discriminator function (/(x,y, z) = x if x / ?/, ^(x,x,z) = 2:), while V(/C*) is the closure of /C* under the formation of subalgebras, homomorphic images, and arbitrary Cartesian products. For example, the class of Boolean algebras is definitionally equivalent ...
متن کاملA Characterization of Decidable Locally Finite Varieties
We describe the structure of those locally finite varieties whose first order theory is decidable. A variety is a class of universal algebras defined by a set of equations. Such a class is said to be locally finite if every finitely generated member of the class is finite. It turns out that in order for such a variety to have a decidable theory it must decompose into the varietal product of thr...
متن کاملDecidable discriminator varieties with lattice stalks
We determine those universal classes of lattices which generate a decidable discriminator variety when augmented by a ternary discriminator term. They are the locally finite universal classes whose finite members are almost homogeneous.
متن کاملDiscriminator Varieties of Boolean Algebras with Residuated Operators
The theory of discriminator algebras and varieties has been investigated extensively, and provides us with a wealth of information and techniques applicable to specific examples of such algebras and varieties. Here we give several such examples for Boolean algebras with a residuated binary operator, abbreviated as r-algebras. More specifically, we show that all finite r-algebras, all integral r...
متن کاملFactor varieties
The universal algebraic literature is rife with generalisations of discriminator varieties, whereby several investigators have tried to preserve in more general settings as much as possible of their structure theory. Here, we modify the definition of discriminator algebra by having the switching function project onto its third coordinate in case the ordered pair of its first two coordinates bel...
